The Elementary program is the natural progression from Children’s House. The children, in a new stage of development, are part of a community of explorers. They are presented with an integrated curriculum and a framework with which to understand it. Maria Montessori referred to the approach as Cosmic Education, a study of the complex and orderly system of the universe.
Students are presented with a rich and complex syllabus, hands-on and individualized. They work in small groups to explore history, social sciences, language arts, mathematics, geometry, the physical and biological sciences, music, craft, and visual arts.
Our five-acre property includes playing fields, playgrounds, and natural spaces that provide abundant opportunities for physical development. We are adjacent to a 25-acre city-owned open space with a salmon creek where the children raise salmon from eggs for release into the creek each year.
